This report presents findings from the 2024 Drug Policy Survey. The survey is a collaborative effort between three allied organisations Harm Reduction Australia (HRA), Family Drug Support (FDS), and Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) Australia. The Drug Policy Survey is an ongoing research initiative that has involved conducting a series of national membership surveys over the past 5 years. This report represents the latest survey aimed at assessing the level of support among the constituents of HRA, FDS & SSDP for reform in the area of alcohol and other drug policies. The findings from the 2024 Drug Policy Survey underscore a growing demand for drug policy reform in Australia, particularly in the areas of harm reduction, decriminalisation, and service accessibility. Across diverse respondent groups—including families, professionals, people who use drugs, and young people—there is widespread support for policies that prioritise health, safety, and human rights over punitive measures.
