Niki Parry has studied social sciences and has worked in the community and health sectors for approximately 15 years now, with most of this time dedicated to AOD health organisations including Hepatitis NSW as well as the Sydney Medically Supervised Injecting Centre. Niki is currently employed by QuIHN (the QLD Injectors Health Network) where she is the Coordinator of QPAMS- the QLD Pharmacotherapy Advocacy and Mediation Service. QPAMS is a state wide peer based service that supports people who are on opiate replacement treatment across QLD.
Niki is passionate about working towards the health and human rights of people who use drugs, and strongly advocates for positive policy change and meaningful consumer involvement, representation and ownership within the QLD AOD sector. She sits on numerous committees and working groups as a consumer rep, ensuring that the voice of people who use drugs is heard.
Niki has served on the Board of AIVL for over 3 years now, and is currently President. The Australian Injecting & Illicit Drug Users League is the national organisation representing people who use/have used illicit drugs and is the peak body for the state and territory peer-based drug user organisations. She is also President of QuIVAA- (QLD Injectors Voice for Advocacy and Action).
Aside from her commitment to drug law reform and drug user rights, Niki is currently Mum to 3 parrots and is keen to expand her parrot family!
