Eddie Lloyd is a Councillor on Lismore City Council and Chair of Council’s Social Justice and Crime Prevention Committee. She also sits on the Aboriginal Advisory Group. Eddie is also a criminal lawyer and has been practicing criminal law since 2011.
After running her own private practice she then became employed as a Trial Advocate for the Aboriginal Legal Service. In 2019, Eddie received Specialist Accreditation in Criminal Law from the NSW Law Society.
Eddie is passionate about social justice and has played an active advocacy role in pursuing drug law reform in the hope of shifting debate from punishing individuals experiencing substance use disorder to a more humane approach that recognises substance use disorder is a health and not a criminal issue. Eddie has given evidence at numerous State and Federal Inquiries and Senate Committees related to the sector and the need for more resources, particularly rehabilitation services, across the State.
